Santa Ana, California More than 150 volunteers recently came together to help end world hunger during a Stop Hunger Now meal-packaging event hosted by FSSI at its Santa Ana, CA headquarters.
Stop Hunger Now (SHN) is an international hunger-relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. Volunteers gather to package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are distributed in schools, orphanages and crisis situations in developing countries throughout the world.
“Passion for Service”
After participating in a Stop Hunger Now meal-packaging event themselves, FSSI’s founders Jon and Jennifer Dietz knew that ending world hunger was a cause their employees would readily embrace–both individually and collectively–as a way of demonstrating the company’s “Passion for Service” core corporate values.
“Many of our staff and business partners regularly volunteer in the community, civic and faith-based organizations,” says FSSI president Jennifer Dietz. “After seeing an event firsthand, we knew this was something our team would want to be part of. When I presented the idea, their interest and enthusiasm were overwhelming. We hosted the event here so as many employees and partners as possible could join in,” Dietz adds.
Clients, partners pitch in
More than a dozen client- and business-partner representatives from five different companies, including Gutmann & Bogart Insurance Brokers and Newmark, Grubb, Knight & Frank, joined 150 FSSI employees and executives to package the meals. In total, FSSI and its team of volunteers donated more than $7,500, and 400 hours to planning, hosting and working the half-day event.
