(FSSI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Santa Ana, CA-based print-mail outsourcing company today announced the receipt of its Chain of Custody Certification, issued by the Forest Stewardship Council<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> or FSC<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. FSSI is one of only a few thousand U.S. businesses to receive the coveted environmental designation, which now allows it to manage and produce documents using FSC-certified paper stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCorporate sustainability strategies call for many of our clients to print their statements, bills and correspondence on paper that originates in responsibly managed forests,\u201d says FSSI president, <a href=\"\/about\/meet-the-president\/\">Jennifer P.W. Dietz<\/a>. \u201cIn addition to helping our clients satisfy their environmental goals, we are proud to expand our own sustainability efforts. This initiative has involved changing our paper handling processes, training personnel to comply with FSC\u2019s Chain of Custody requirements, and preparing for annual audits. We are delighted we can support our clients and our world in this way,\u201d Dietz adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Forest Stewardship Council<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/us.fsc.org\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FSC<\/a> is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that promotes responsible management of the world\u2019s forests. FSC certified input materials and products are acutely tracked throughout the supply chain, all the way to the consumer. <a href=\"https:\/\/us.fsc.org\/chain-of-custody-certification.201.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chain of Custody Certification<\/a> guarantees that FSC-certified material has been produced in an environmentally sound way, meeting <a href=\"https:\/\/us.fsc.org\/mission-and-vision.187.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FSC\u2019s 10 Principles<\/a>, and is identified or kept separate from non-certified material throughout its journey to the marketplace. Conscientious consumers can look for the FSC logo and know they are actively supporting responsible forest management, including biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FSSI\u2019s Environmental<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Practices &amp; Awards FSSI was among the first print-mail outsourcing companies to integrate sustainability practices into regular business operations. FSSI has recycled or responsibly disposed of tons of reusable waste, including paper, wooden pallets and electronics, such as computers, monitors and other office equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For its work in reducing energy consumption, the company recently earned Trane North America\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/49779100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Efficiency Leader Award<\/a>.\u201d Plans are also underway for FSSI to pilot test an integrated energy intelligence solution that would further cut electricity usage through predictive software and advanced energy storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On its clients\u2019 behalf, FSSI also participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/CDP_SupplyChain_2011_US.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDP<\/a>), keepers of the world\u2019s largest corporate emissions and climate change database, and recognized leader in greenhouse gas reporting.
