FSSI has completed — with zero exceptions — its 2011-2012 SSAE 16 Type 2 audit, in accordance with the AICPA’s SSAE No. 16 (SOC 1). Rigorous internal and external network vulnerability tests, a social media test, and review of the company’s risk assessment analysis were performed in conjunction with the security and quality control process audit.

Company president, Jennifer Dietz, says the audit and the results – in particular the zero exceptions finding – affirm the company’s commitment to preserving the security and privacy of client data, and to ensuring that FSSI’s internal controls effectively safeguard sensitive information.

“In order to provide best-in-class services and satisfy our clients’ regulatory requirements, FSSI continues to improve our security controls and quality standards. We’re pleased to report that we passed the comprehensive SSAE 16 auditing standards with flying colors and zero exceptions,” says Dietz.

Specific control objectives achieved

The results confirm that FSSI’s policies and procedures are correctly designed and operating effectively throughout a specified period in order to achieve specified control objectives, which for this report included:

  • Physical and Environmental Security
  • Information Security
  • Data Communications
  • Print, Mail and ePresentment Operational Controls
  • Access Controls

About SSAE 16 and SOC report types

SSAE 16 superseded SAS 70 on June 15, 2011 as the audit standard for service organization auditors. SSAE 16 was adopted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in an effort to establish a more uniform reporting standard.

“Service Organization Controls” (SOC) refer to three types of engagements or reports typically given to a company’s – a.k.a. “user entity’s” – internal auditors and/or regulators. The SOC 1 is a report on controls at a service organization relevant to user entities’ internal control over financial reporting; prepared in accordance the SSAE 16 Type 2 and is considered by many as the “Gold Standard” for its reporting depth and detail.  Visit the SSAE 16 website or AICPA.org for more information about SSAE 16 standard and SOC report types.
