New Canon Colorstream 8160 Inkjet Production Printer – FSSI is pleased to announce we are upgrading our printer technology in Santa Ana with the main benefits being an expanded range of colors and increased speed of MICR printing. Next month our current Canon 3900 printer will be dismantled and the new 8160 will be installed in its place. The Digital Print Services team has been planning this transition for months, including installing two additional cut-sheet MICR printers to add capacity during the 3 week installation period. This is in addition to the two cut-sheet MICR printers already in Santa Ana and the ability to utilize our Dallas facility’s capacity. The Canon 3900 will be moved to our Dallas facility to add print capacity at that location. Your Client Services Account Rep will be contacting you if any of your applications will require changes during this transition.
Network Maintenance –Our next monthly maintenance cycles are Sunday, April 14th and Sunday, May 12th.
USPS Rate Increases – The U. S. Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission on April 9th to increase postage rates effective July 14, 2024. The new rates include a 5-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp from 68 to 73 cents. The proposed adjustments, approved by the governors of the Postal Service, would raise mailing services product prices approximately 7.8%. More to follow as we receive information on the increases for automated presorted mail rates.
Paper Supplies and Prices – Paper mills announced a 5-10% increases in prices for paper used for printing and for envelope manufacturing, effective the first week in April. FSSI is receiving notifications of 4-5% increases from our paper and envelope suppliers, however at this point, we do not plan to pass this increase on to our clients. We believe paper supplies will remain stable throughout 2024, although they may tighten prior to the election in November. We are still seeing a competitive marketplace for paper and envelope suppliers and plan to take advantage of this over the next year.
